Laplace EMC System: Dealing With the Ambient Noise |
If the test is conducted not in a shielded room, the entire world becomes a part of your product under test. Or, at least your antenna thinks this way. Connect a spectrum analyzer to your antenna in an open area and you will be amazed what is out there. FM stations, TV transmitters, cell phones, police radios, walkie-talkes, pager network and plenty of unidentified sources. All of them make your pre-compliance test seemingly impossible.
Laplace EMC system takes a snapshot of the ambient electromagnetic environment and then subtracts it from the measurement results, substantially reducing the influence of ambient noise on measurement accuracy. A user should still be aware of signals that last only brief time, such as signals from the cell phones, etc. The end result is a "virtual anechoic room" right in your company cafeteria and the results that correlate well with the results obtained in a much more expensive laboratory. |
