Laplace EMC System: Dealing With Reflections |
Any conductive object generates reflections for electromagnetic waves. These reflections substantially alter the results of measurements.
Laplace EMC System solves reflection problem by simply canceling them. A calibrated Emission Reference Source (ERS) that is a part of a system is placed instead of a tested product and a complete frequency sweep is made. Each ERS was calibrated at the "ideal" test site and comes with calibration data. During site calibration, the control software, knowing what it should see in an "ideal" non-reflective environment, makes automatic correction to the measured signal. This is done for both polarization of an antenna -- horizontal and vertical. The correction factors are then applied to the results of measurements. As long as nothing is moved and nothing new is introduced into measurement environment, the test results are virtually reflection-free. |
